Should be N-N-N: 1. 2012-Datacenter is selected as the OS, not the R2 version 2. There's no custom image 3. There is a default value, thus no prompt to select a value

2012-Datacenter is specified in variables, but variable itself is not used, sku is hardcoded to R2

YNN is correct in my view even there is a default value for 2019 however variable has been given value of 2012, so Y. There is not customer image. N and Because default value has been given for OS, no prompting should be there. N

If you are deploying the template in Azure Portal, you will get a combobox to choose the windows version as it is defined as a parameter even if it is not used in the resource. If you are deploying it using Azure CLI you will not be prompted to provide it.

Not correct. I tested in lab. The VM was provisioned directly, 2012-R2 version, no questions asked.
