NVE provides software-based encryption at the volume level, whereas NSE uses hardware-based encryption to secure data on disk drives. Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is used for securing hardware and cryptographic functions, and Encrypted File System (EFS) is a Windows-specific feature not directly related to NetApp storage encryption.
