The NetApp E-Series system supports both iSCSI and FC protocols. iSCSI (Internet Small Computer System Interface) is a protocol that allows clients to send SCSI commands to storage devices over IP networks. FC (Fibre Channel) is a high-speed networking technology primarily used to connect computer data storage in storage area networks (SANs). These protocols fall under Block storage, which is what the E-Series supports. NFS (Network File System) and SMB (Server Message Block) are file storage protocols and are not supported by the E-Series.
