HPE0-V14 Exam - Question 111

A customer is moving a server from a co-location facility back into their existing data center to comply with new internal policies on data management.

Due to budget constraints, the customer cannot purchase any additional switches and will need to use an existing end-of-row design with HPE FlexFabric switches. While the server will be installed six racks away from the switches, the total cable run with cable management is expected to be 35 m.

Which component should be selected when designing the 10 Gbps connectivity option for the server?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: C

For a 10 Gbps connectivity option over a distance of 35 meters, the best choice is an SFP+ Active Optical Cable. The SFP+ Direct Attach Copper Cable cannot cover the required distance as it typically supports up to 10 meters. The SFP+ 10G LC SR Transceiver, while capable of supporting longer distances with appropriate fiber cables, involves additional components and cost considerations. The QSFP+ and QSFP28 Active Optical Cables are designed for higher data rates, which exceed the 10 Gbps requirement and are thus unnecessarily costly. The SFP+ Active Optical Cable is both suitable for the data rate and the distance needed, making it the most appropriate and cost-effective choice.

Answer appears to be C - SFP+ Active Optical Cable Requirements are 35m length cabling at 10Gbps with budget constraints A. SFP+ Direct Attached Copper Cable can only go 10m B. QSFP+ Active Optical Cable overshoots the 10Gb requirement and cost more D. SFP+ 10G LC SR Transceiver is not a cable that can solve the 35m requirement E. QSFP28 Active Optical Cable overshoots the 10Gb requirement and cost way more

C for sure

The Answer should be D. As SFP+ Active Optical Cable only supports upto 20 mtrs. And SFP+ 10G LC SR Transceiver with Multi mode cable supports up to 300 mtrs.
