ACSA Exam - Question 21

Refer to the exhibit.

Exhibit 1.

Exhibit 2.

The routing configuration must support this behavior:

Server 1 and Server 2 communicate over Link 1 when Link 1 is up.

If Link 1 fails, Server 1 and Server 2 can continue to communicate over the path through Switch-3.

What must the network administrator change to meet these criteria?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: C

The goal is to ensure that Server 1 and Server 2 use Link 1 (between Switch 1 and Switch 2) as their primary path. If Link 1 fails, the communication should then reroute through Switch 3. To achieve this, static routes over the primary link should have a lower administrative distance (AD) than the backup routes via Switch 3. By raising the administrative distance for the second route on Switch 1 to 192.168.3.0/24 and on Switch 2 to 192.168.2.0/24, the routes through Switch 3 will become less preferred, thus ensuring the traffic usually takes Link 1. If Link 1 fails, the routes through Switch 3 will be used automatically due to their higher AD.

The route over the link 1 should be less. To achieve keep the route between Switch 1 & 2 in default AD , increase teh AD value through switch 3
