Question 44

An administrator has been tasked with the shutdown process of one of the nodes in a 4-node vSAN Cluster, in order to replace a motherboard. The administrator must select the correct maintenance mode option to ensure all objects remain compliant with the vSAN Default Storage Policy. No changes have been made to this policy.

Which maintenance mode option should the administrator select?

    Correct Answer: C

To ensure all objects remain compliant with the vSAN Default Storage Policy during the maintenance of one of the nodes in a 4-node vSAN Cluster, the administrator should select the Full Data Migration option. This option ensures that all data is migrated from the host that is going into maintenance mode to the remaining hosts in the cluster. By doing this, the vSAN cluster can maintain the necessary redundancy and compliance with the storage policy, which usually requires a certain level of fault tolerance (typically FTT=1 for RAID 1). This method guarantees that the data remains protected despite one node being offline for maintenance.

Discussion
Rabbit117Option: C

I think C is correct. There will be a spare host when using FTT=1 Raid1 in a 4 node cluster. With full data migration the data will be migrated to the spare node which will maintain FTT=1 Raid1.

LazylinuxOption: C

C is correct as 2n+1 = 3 with FTT=1 and hence extra host is there and best in this case to use full data migration, this brings you in line with 3 hosts with FTT=1 and hence no violation in Storage policy - Note replacing motherboard is no different from hard disk and is irrelevant here for vSAN as vSAN dont care about your motherboard, if it take more than 60minutes to replace you could always increase the delay repair timer!!

bartxqOption: C

C - Full data migration

AlefinOption: C

I think C Because esxi host reinstall and rejoin to vsan cluster
