Question 1

Which three components are required to deploy a stretched cluster in a VMware Cloud Foundation environment? (Choose three.)

    Correct Answer: B, D, F

To deploy a stretched cluster in a VMware Cloud Foundation environment, these components are necessary: vSAN, host overlay, and vMotion networks must be stretched across both sites to ensure proper connectivity and operation of the cluster, which is why option B is correct. Each vSAN stretched cluster requires a witness host to resolve quorum issues in the event of partitioning, hence option D is also correct. Finally, DHCP must be enabled on the host overlay network to provide necessary IP addresses dynamically, validating option F.

BDF: 10-25 Stretched Cluster Requirements vSAN stretched clusters in VMware Cloud Foundation have the following requirements: • You must have a vSAN Enterprise license. • You must configure networking in both sites: — Each data site must have its own vSphere vMotion, vSAN, and host overlay networks. — DHCP must be available on the host overlay network in each site. — Round-trip time (RTT) between sites must be ≤ 5 milliseconds. — The management network, NSX Edge Uplink, and NSX Edge overlay VLANs must be stretched across both sites. • You must stretch the management domain before you stretch workload domains. • A third data site is required for the witness host or appliance: — RTT between data sites and the witness must be ≤ 200 milliseconds, or ≤ 100 milliseconds with 11 or more hosts per data site.

Tested this morning and NONE of these are on the exam. New exam is 5VO-31.23.

answer : B & D

PhanToMOptions: BCE

B: No => vSAN, host overlay and vMotion network stretched across both sites : Supported but not required D: Yes => vSAN, host overlay and vMotion network per data site : this is the requirement as per : https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Cloud-Foundation/4.3/vcf-admin/GUID-A56D8E59-A549-4624-BC61-4A92710F9FA1.html E: Yes => Each vSAN stretched cluster requires a witness host deployed in a vSAN witness zone, which must be different from the location of both availability zones. : https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Cloud-Foundation/4.3/vcf-admin/GUID-7B4CC729-20BD-4CC9-B855-B38F02F74D40.html moreover : https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Cloud-Foundation/4.3/vcf-admin/GUID-92EFDF30-9473-4F69-A19F-B979FADB79E9.html F: Yes => You cannot stretch a cluster in the following conditions: the cluster uses static IP addresses for the NSX-T Data Center Host Overlay Network TEPs

MonsterVMOptions: ABC

vSAN, host overlay and vMotion network must be stretched across both sites in order to provide connectivity between the hosts in the stretched cluster. A witness host is required to resolve quorum issues in the event of a network partition. There must be one witness host per vSAN stretched cluster. DHCP must be enabled on the host overlay network in order to provide IP addresses to the hosts in the stretched cluster. The other options are not required.

PhanToM

Ok but then it's not ABC!

NO. vMotion and vSAN networks MUST not to be stretched, can be reouted. Indeed, VCF expects these networks to be routed rather than stretched, reason why it creates two Port Groups for each, one with the vmknerls from Hosts in Main Site and other with vmknerel from Hosts in Secondary Site. Right answer is DEF.

DEF are correct. vSAN stretched clusters in VMware Cloud Foundation have the following requirements: • A vSAN Enterprise license. • The Management domain cluster must be stretched before any workload clusters are stretched. • Networking in both data sites that meets the requirements: The vSphere vMotion, vSAN, Host Overlay Transport and Management networks must be stretched (L2) or routed (L3) between data sites. • DHCP must be available on the Host Overlay Transport in each data site. • The NSX Edge Uplink and NSX Edge Overlay Transport VLANs must be stretched L2 across both data sites. • A third Witness site for the witness host or appliance that meets the requirements Taken from Lesson Book VMware Cloud Foundation: Deploy, Configure, Manage [V5.0]

Kk14Options: BDF

BDF are correct. Below are the requirements: The vSphere vMotion, vSAN, Host Overlay Transport and Management networks must be stretched (L2) or routed (L3) between data sites. DHCP must be available on the Host Overlay Transport in each data site. The round-trip time (RTT) between data sites must be ≤ 5 milliseconds. The NSX Edge Uplink and NSX Edge Overlay Transport VLANs must be stretched L2 across both data sites.

DHCP is not needed for EDGE TEP , so clearly A is wrong !!

Each stretched cluster requires a vSAN witness appliance in a third party location. The witness appliance should be running the same version of ESXi as the ESXi hosts in the stretched cluster. The maximum RTT on the witness is 200ms. So no need per site....

are these valid questions? anyone can confirm?
