5v0-3122 Exam - Question 108

A vSphere administrator is planning to deploy a new VMware Cloud Foundation environment and is tasked with identifying the necessary external services that will be required for a new stretched-cluster implementation.

Which three services should be considered as dependencies in this situation? (Choose three.)

Show Answer
Correct Answer: BCE

When planning to deploy a new VMware Cloud Foundation environment with a stretched-cluster implementation, certain external services must be considered as dependencies for the deployment. DNS is crucial because it provides domain name resolution for the environment. NTP (Network Time Protocol) is needed to ensure that all hosts and devices within the cluster have synchronized time, which is essential for coordination and functionality. DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is necessary for the automatic assignment of IP addresses within the network, which aids in efficient network management and host overlay addressing. These services are essential external dependencies that facilitate the proper configuration and operation of a stretched-cluster in VMware Cloud Foundation.

vSAN, DHCP, and Syslog are important components, but they are not necessarily external services or dependencies specifically for a stretched-cluster implementation. These services may be managed within the VCF environment itself. So, the correct options should be A, B, and C.

vSAN is not External. That is in the question. They are asking for external services.

BCE is the correct answer, these are EXTERNAL services and are identified in the documentation https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Cloud-Foundation/5.1/vcf-design/GUID-AF68647A-37AB-4B8C-9402-BA9603947D4A.html

BGP not required for SC. Only for the peering. NTP, DNS and DHCP for Host overlay addressing is correct

ABC & E are all potentially correct here. The actual question on the test will be different and only have 3 answers. NTP is required. DNS is always required. It's a VMware product. Dynamic Routing is being used here because it's stretched (most likely) and that means BGP and DHCP will be involved and required.

dns and ntp required for basic config and dhcp required for stretched cluster
