2v0-2123 Exam - Question 103

An administrator has a requirement to revert a running virtual machine to a previous snapshot af-ter a failed attempt to upgrade an application. When the administrator originally took the snap-shot, the following choices in the Take Snapshot dialog were made:

• Snapshot the virtual machine’s memory = false

• Quiesce guest file system = false

What will be the result of the administrator selecting the “Revert to Latest Snapshot” option to return the virtual machine to a previous snapshot? (Choose two.)

Show Answer
Correct Answer: BC

Since the snapshot was taken with the memory option set to false, the virtual machine's runtime state was not saved. This means that when the 'Revert to Latest Snapshot' option is selected, the virtual machine will not be returned to a running or suspended state and will be restored in a powered off state. Additionally, 'Revert to Latest Snapshot' refers to the most recent snapshot in the chain of snapshots, also known as the child snapshot.

Powered on (does not include memory) Reverts to the parent snapshot and the virtual machine is powered off. Powered off (does not include memory) Reverts to the parent snapshot and the virtual machine is powered off.

"Revert to Latest Snapshot: Restores the parent snapshot, one level up in the hierarchy from the You are Here position. Revert to Latest Snapshot activates the parent snapshot of the current state of the virtual machine"... B&C: Guys, if the machine has more snapshots and you revert to the latest then you will be on a child snapshot, not on the parent snapshot which is the first one.
