Question 19

An administrator needs to configure Proactive High Availability (HA) in a vSphere environment so that virtual machines (VMs) do not run on any partially degraded hosts. The administrator would also like to see the recommendations before VMs are migrated.

Which automation and remediation level should the administrator select?

    Correct Answer: C

To ensure that virtual machines do not run on any partially degraded hosts, the Remediation Level should be set to Maintenance mode, as it will not allow VMs to run on hosts that are partially degraded. To see the recommendations before VMs are migrated, the Automation Level should be set to Manual. This combination allows the administrator to review recommendations before initiating the migration, ensuring VMs do not run on degraded hosts.

Discussion
eranoxOption: C

"so that virtual machines (VMs) do not run on any partially degraded hosts" According to the reference document, Quarantine mode *tries* to avoid degraded hosts, but will use a degraded host if there would be a negative impact on VM performance otherwise. Maintenance mode will not allow a VM to run on a partially degraded host, whether or not it negatively impacts VM performance. The wording of the question makes C the correct answer.

A is correct: from the link above "Quarantine mode for all failures. Balances performance and availability, by avoiding the usage of partially degraded hosts provided that virtual machine performance is unaffected."

what is ג€??

GasserAyad

Nothing. It used to be hyphen or a colon, but probably has been unrecognized when the question has been dumped on examtopics. Don't worry about it.

kobilyOption: A

From the document, it seems like A is correct: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.7/com.vmware.vsphere.avail.doc/GUID-3E3B18CC-8574-46FA-9170-CF549B8E55B8.html Quarantine mode for all failures. Balances performance and availability, by avoiding the usage of partially degraded hosts provided that virtual machine performance is unaffected. Maintenance mode for all failures. Ensures that virtual machines do not run on partially failed hosts.

You're looking in the right place, but I think you chose the wrong option. Quarantine mode *tries* to avoid partially degraded hosts, but only if VM performance is unaffected. Maintenance mode will not allow VMs to run on partially degraded hosts, whether or not there is an impact to VM performance. Given the way the question is worded, answer C is correct.

[Removed]Option: C

C is the COrrect.. need a manual level for see recomendations.. And Maintenance for Not any partial Degradaded

markey164Option: C

Answer = C. "Manual" ensures you see the recommendations and "Maintenance Mode" ensures VMs do not get put onto partially degraded hosts.

diegof1Option: C

C is right https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vsphere.avail.doc/GUID-3E3B18CC-8574-46FA-9170-CF549B8E55B8.html

JessicappOption: A

I think its A, as it says wanna check recommendation before migration. Well Maintenance mode won't give recommendation, it will act for sure.

markey164

You're getting "Maintenance mode" mixed up with "Automatic". Its the Automatic or Manual setting that defines whether or not you get Recommendations.

abdul9999Option: C

C "Maintenance mode " :"...do not run on partially failed host" https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vsphere.avail.doc/GUID-3E3B18CC-8574-46FA-9170-CF549B8E55B8.html

AlchotOption: C

C is correct. See recommendations before vms are migrated is the clue
