Question 64

A small government organization wants to implement stateless desktops using VMware products. The IT team is unable to add or alter any GPO in the organization's Active Directory. It wants to minimize the storage space required for the user VMs and preserve user's profiles and other personalization settings.

Which accomplishes these goals?

    Correct Answer: A

To implement stateless desktops while minimizing storage space and preserving user profiles and personalization settings, VMware Horizon Instant Clone desktop pools with VMware User Environment Manager (UEM) are the best choice. Horizon Instant Clones provide a rapid and efficient way to create stateless desktops, and UEM allows for the management of user profiles and personalization settings. Importantly, UEM can be configured to work in NoAD (No Active Directory) mode, meaning it does not require changes to Group Policy Objects (GPOs) in Active Directory. This makes it suitable for environments where the IT team is unable to add or alter GPOs.

A for me. They need stateless so Linked or IC but they also want Min Disk which means IC + UEM for app profiles. You can configure all UEM setup in NOAD mode. the rest of UEM is done in the UEM console

NOAD mode ist for unattended Install of FlexEngine.. ? https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Dynamic-Environment-Manager/9.8/com.vmware.user.environment.manager-install-config/GUID-23619AB5-6323-451C-94D9-B89C49AC0342.html

Sorry, my fail: In NoAD mode, FlexEngine ignores all User Environment Manager GPO settings. If settings from a previous GPO-based deployment are encountered, no actions are performed and a message is logged to the FlexEngine log file. Install FlexEngine in NoAD Mode You install the client component, FlexEngine, in NoAD mode by performing an unattended installation through a command-line interface. Now i think "A" is right.

virtualobiOption: D

D They want stateless desktops so LC or IC, but cannot alter or add GPO so UEM is out since that is needed to preserve user profiles and other settings with UEM. Linked Clones will still minimize storage space and persistent disks allow preserving profiles and personalization settings.

stjwh1Option: A

I choose A. because of no SQL DB and UEM can use no-AD mode

I think A is correct

ShazPazOption: A

but these settings and folder redirection can only be configured via GPO not through admx via UEM

dasmoove

I agree with ShazPaz, in NoAD mode you are limited to basically just redirecting the profile for the most part all of the folder redirection ans such requires GPO
