Question 48

Your Veeam Backup & Replication environment currently has three Backup Jobs, each containing a single virtual machine with three restore points. You configure a new Backup Copy Job, add all three virtual machines and wait for the first initial copy to complete. Depending on the Simple Backup Repository configuration, how many VBK files will be created on the Simple Backup Repository? (Choose two.)

    Correct Answer: B, D

When configuring a new Backup Copy Job in Veeam Backup & Replication, the number of VBK files created on the Simple Backup Repository depends on whether you have enabled the "Use per-VM backup files" option. If this option is enabled, Veeam creates one VBK file per virtual machine, resulting in three VBK files in total. If the option is not enabled, a single VBK file is created for all virtual machines. Therefore, the correct answers are the scenarios where either multiple VBK files or a single VBK file are created, as specified in options B and D.

If the question is how many VBK files are created, the answer will be: one VBK per VM or just one VBK (it depends of you selected "Use per-VM backup files" option or not). Reference: Veeam Backup & Replication transfers copied data to the target backup repository and writes all copied data blocks to the full backup file. If you do not enable the Use per-VM backup files option for the target backup repository, Veeam Backup & Replication creates one backup file in the target backup repository and stores to it data for all machines processed by the job. If you enable the Use per-VM backup files option, data of every machine in the job is stored to separate backup files in the target backup repository. Then B and D are correct for me

If it is the first backup job run, just the first full backup will be created. After subsecuent runs the job will create additional restore points.
