VMCE2020 Exam - Question 42

Which of the following scenarios properly applies the 3-2-1 rule to backup jobs?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: B

The 3-2-1 rule for backups states that you should have at least three copies of your data, stored on two different types of media, with one copy off-site. Option B involves using a backup job to back up to a local repository and then performing a backup copy job to a repository in another location. This setup ensures two copies of the data in different locations. To fully comply with the 3-2-1 rule, an additional copy on different media (e.g., tape or cloud storage) would be required, but given the options provided, Option B comes closest to adhering to the rule.

B is correct, because in A you are using move mode, and this is not a third copy (3-2-1), you are just splitting the backup chain from the SOBR

A would be correct if the SOBR was configured in copy mode, since it is not, the data is being moved from one media to another media. B is correct and compliant with 3-2-1 rule (3 copies of the same data in 2 locations which one of the is off-site)

I think the answers are all incorrect or it's missing something. Why is B correct like everyone says? Where is 3-2-1 in there?

I think A is the better option because using B they are using the same type of media, Disk, and Disk,

B is very close to the 3-2-1 rule but still not complete. What of the offsite? It is Disk and Disk and nothing in another type of media...
