Question 3

A company needs to recover a domain controller from a backup file they have on premises which was created by the Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows. Which of the following would provide the fastest access to the domain controller?

    Correct Answer: B

Performing an Instant VM Recovery allows the domain controller to be quickly restored and powered on in a virtual environment, significantly reducing the time needed to access it. By leveraging the Instant VM Recovery feature on their VMware host, the company can mount the backup file directly and immediately start the virtual machine, thus providing the fastest access to the domain controller compared to other recovery methods.

Discussion
quechillOption: B

Using Veeam instant recovery should be the fastest way

safodzOption: B

bar metal recovery take longer that Instant recovery so correct answer is B

iomdOption: B

I would choose B. The question asks for the fastest way to access the DC, not the fastest way to restore it. So I would choose Instant recovery, which is an available option with the Agent's restore options.

cnhampule86Option: B

a. Veeam explorer does not recover the entire DC. c. Perform a bare metal recovery - That is not the objective because they want to restore to a specific restore point and specific backup file d. Definitely not and also not fast. It is B. https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/instant_recovery.html?ver=110

Nik9907Option: B

B seems to be correct https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/agents/agents_restore_vsphere.html?ver=100

TroutmasterOption: A

This question specifically states, "Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows". The agent will do Volume, File, and System State. Therefore you can't do an instant VM Recovery. However, you can use the Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Active Directory to restore the AD Objects. Two references: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agentforwindows/userguide/integration_explorers.html?ver=40 - Under Restoring Application Items https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/restore_vead.html?ver=100 Therefore, I believe the correct answer to be A

I think It's B, because you can use Instant VM recovery on VMware for a VM backed up with Veeam Agent. https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agentforwindows/userguide/integration_instant_restore_vsphere.html?ver=40

dbello

BTW, the sentence say "the faster". What's faster than Instant VM Recovery.... so should be B.

moustickillerOption: B

off course you can instant recover from a backup made with Veeam Agent for Windows. https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/instant_recovery.html?ver=110 at least in V11 ;-)

wpjoulekkadingOption: C

C is correct, its agent backup and agent can only do bare metal restore. there is no instant restore functionality

NeelsNNOption: C

Answer may be C, as they have mentioned "Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows.". this is an agent level backup

MightDieNow

It is perfectly possible to restore a backup taken by the Veeam Windows agent of a physical machine instead to a VM on an ESXi host. Check out this documentation on the Veeam Windows agent help center: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agentforwindows/userguide/integration_instant_restore_vsphere.html?ver=50

IthrialOption: C

A I believe is incorrect. Yes it does say Veeam Agent for Windows, but it also says recover the domain controller, not a specific object, user etc. Veeam Explorer cannot restore the full DC (at least not easily) and since there is no mention of VMware in the quesiton, one cannot necessarily assume they do have a host for VMs. They are using Agent for WIndows because they have to. There for, C is the only answer that doesnt assume or infer information that is not stated within the question
