ADM-201 Exam - Question 68

The support team has asked the System Administrator to automate the notification of a customer's support plan ending - they would like for the Customer Support

Rep to receive an email 30 days before the Support Plan Expires (Support Plan Expiration Date is on the Account record). What will the system administrator do?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: A

To ensure the Customer Support Rep receives an email 30 days before the Support Plan Expiration Date, the system administrator should create a workflow rule with a time-based trigger set to fire 30 days before the Support Plan Expiration Date. This workflow rule should use an email action to notify the assigned Support Rep. A workflow rule with a time-based trigger is capable of scheduling actions to occur at specified times relative to the date in a date field, ensuring the notification is sent out exactly 30 days before the Support Plan expires.

Can someone explain why B does not work in this situation?

it would be inefficient for the rep to receive an email with a date on it that could be any time in the future with a 30 days from that date to the expiry date. It's better to actually receive the email 30 days to expiry, that way the rep knows they need to start engaging with the customer and don't forget about it.

Just because of the fact that that in the ending clause it states "use an email action to notify the assigned Support Rep" which sort of fulfils the criteria based on the question.

Can someone explain, I though Workflow rules gets triggered when record is created/updated. Then how is it able to trigger email before 30 days supposing that particular record is not being updated by the user.
