Active Currencies live in Company Profile, user record (Personal Setup) and in Opportunity (Record).

Active Currencies exist in the Company Profile, user records under Personal Setup, and in Opportunities as part of the Salesforce.com platform functionality. When multiple currencies are enabled, users will have their own currency settings and Opportunities will also reflect the relevant currency information.
Opp and user records do not have active currency fields.
Currency appears on Users and Opportunities only if "Activate Multiple Currencies" is enabled under Company Information. The question is unclear under what circumstances we should look for a Currency field for these objects.
