PRINCE2-Practitioner Exam - Question 165

ABC Company produces a corporate business plan which includes the targets for the next 12 months. For the Health and Safety Training Project, a feasibility study was carried out and, as a result, the expected sales were included in this plan. During the 'starting up a project' process, the executive advised the project manager that the corporate business plan provides sufficient justification to initiate the project.

Is this a correct application of the 'continued business justification' principle, and why?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: B

The correct application of the 'continued business justification' principle involves ensuring that the business justification is documented and approved. The corporate business plan, having undergone a feasibility study and been included after validation, provides a form of this recorded justification. This aligns with the principle's requirement that there must be a documented and approved justification for initiating the project, which must be maintained throughout its life. Therefore, the approval of the corporate business plan fulfills this requirement.

When I read this I thought it was B "In most organizations the business justification is usually documented in some form of business case. " but Its A, bcs of this, PRINCE2 requires that for all projects: •there is a justifiable reason for starting the project •that justification is recorded and approved •the justification remains valid, and is revalidated, throughout the life of the project.

A is incorrect because the executive alone can't justify the project. C is incorrect because other documents can provide the justification. D is incorrect because some form of justification is required for startup. Therefore, B is the best answer. The corporate plan's approval fulfills the need for documented justification according to the principle.

Agree with others in the comment section that B seems to be the most appropiate of all options.
