Question 537

A project manager has two projects that are being executed at the same time. The duration of the critical project must be reduced, but the project manager does not have enough resources to achieve this goal. In addition, the schedule does not have activities that can be overlapped.

What should the project manager do?

    Correct Answer: A

When a project manager has two projects running simultaneously and needs to reduce the duration of the critical project without enough resources and no activities that can be overlapped, the most logical step is to analyze both projects to determine the most effective use of common resources. This approach allows the project manager to reallocate resources in a way that can best support the critical project without needing additional resources, optimizing the existing ones for the best possible outcome.

A. Analyze both projects to determine the most effective use of common resources

SteAleOption: A

One project can borrow some resources from another project if possible.

RevZig67Option: D

If the project manager needs to reduce the duration of the critical project but does not have enough resources and activities that can be overlapped, the most appropriate option is D - apply fast-tracking techniques to compress the schedule of the critical project.

Your name is noted. I've seen you answer questions wrong a lot. The project is critical. Fast tracking increases risk.

SuHo2610Option: A

Am I allowed to simply switch resources between projects (just because I'm the PM of 2 projects in parallel)?

[Removed]

With resources they have in common, which is what I think they mean by "common resources" in the answer, then yes. This could also open up new means of fast tracking, depending on the resource, which could be anything from tools you could use (i.e. both projects need a jackhammer, but one project doesn't get it until later, however if they got it at an ealier time it would allow them to begin quicker) I think thats what they're going for here.
