Question 221

A project is ready to start, and resources are allocated. The development manager then informs the project manager that a critical resource is no longer available due to a family emergency. The development manager indicates that all other developers have been assigned to other projects, and there is no capacity for any developer to take on additional work.

What should the project manager do next to fulfill this resource need?

    Correct Answer: C

When a critical resource is no longer available and no other developers are available to take on additional work, the project manager should meet with the sponsor to determine how to rebaseline the schedule. This involves reassessing the project timeline and making necessary adjustments to accommodate the delay caused by the unavailability of the resource. This step ensures that the project can proceed with a realistic and achievable timeline, considering the current constraints.

mesacgonOption: C

AlizadeOption: A

A. Determine resource allocation options based on project priority. When a critical resource becomes unavailable, it is important for the project manager to assess the situation and determine the best course of action. The first step should be to evaluate the project's priorities and determine which tasks or deliverables are critical and which are less important. This will help the project manager to identify any resources that could be temporarily reallocated from less critical projects to the current project.

aqz_111Option: D

I think it is PMO's authority to prioritize and select projects for the organisation. A PM does not has authority to prioritize all the project. A is not in PM's authority. PM can only negotiate with the development head who is the functional head. internal acquisition fail, the other choice is procurement and request enough resources from senior management, I select D

D. is the worst of the 4 options.
