Question 535

A team member misses a project meeting without it being approved and has been penalized as defined in the ground rules. This team member, as well as other team members, insist that it is the first time they have seen this rule regarding the project and they do not agree with the penalty.

What should the project manager have done to avoid this situation?

    Correct Answer: A

The project manager should have ensured the team charter was developed by the team members. The team charter typically includes ground rules, personal values, and behavior agreements, which are most relevant to the situation described. When the team members participate in developing the team charter, they are more aware of and committed to these rules and agreements. This approach fosters a sense of ownership and understanding among team members, preventing issues like the one described where team members claim they were unaware of the rule and do not agree with the penalty.

Discussion
mrbottomwoodOption: A

Option C, I think is the worst option! Project charter and Team charter are two separate things.

carlosivriveraOption: C

The key word is "all" when referring to the team members. Some maybe most, develop the Project Charter, but ALL of them should receive it. Correct answer is C

emelbaOption: C

C seems to be correct, as the question says " this rule regarding the project", It seems to be a rule includen in the project charter, not the Team Charter.

Goku_PMP

ground rules are defined in consent with team also.

leo_goldOption: C

The issue in the question seems to be related to distribution of the team charter as some of the team members didn't see this penalty. Remember if new resource hired late at the project this resource wont be part of the team charter development anyways.

Sorry I will pick A.. I just learned about the team charter: Team charters are usually created in a group setting, with the team members involved in the creation process. During the session, team leaders facilitate discussions and pose key questions that help define several critical elements about the team.

PMPStudentOption: A

I will go with A as well. It is recommended to create team charter with the team. B is also a good answer, but ground rules are defined in the team charter and the team charter is created with the entire team.

DavidTriOption: C

project charter should be developed by whole team including PM. and make sure it is distribute to all team and get agreement before apply to the team

Bruce_LiuOption: A

A is the spirit of PMP, enpower instead of top down communication

EfaChuxOption: A

Team charter is where the guidelines of the team is established. This is the part that must be developed by the team.

GabMontereyOption: C

C is the correct answer, team charter should be made and developed by Project manager and team members. Not only Team members.

Best answer A

David983Option: C

Does the team charter contain information related to penalties??? I don´t think so. Option C seems more accurate. Project Charter include rules and penalties in case something not respected. Team Charter is performed on terms of collaboration and good practices, the purpose of the document is not to set up penalties.

victory108Option: A

A. Ensured the team charter was developed by the team members

miggykurkovaOption: A

the team member mey be new at the team so may not attend team charter activity. PM should remind charter to all team members

TEAM CHARTER establishes the team ground rules. https://www.pmi.org/learning/library/team-charter-development-5128 Project Charter - Purpose and Objectives of the PROJECT https://project-management.com/what-is-a-project-charter/

AstridNOption: A

I don't know if the project charter is supposed to contain this information. But I'm sure it can be in the team charter...

EC123Option: A

To my understanding, it is about the behaviour which should be related to team charter not project charter. Project Charter is about the project as a whole rather than personal behavour.

MBoo93Option: C

I vote C as well
