NCM-MCI Exam - Question 49

An administrator is trying to convert an ESXi cluster with the existing configurations to AHV:

• HA and DRS enabled

• vCenter VM resides on the same cluster being converted

• Distributed vSwitch

• Multiple external vSwitches

• Active/active load balancing

Which two configurations will cause the cluster conversion process to fail? (Choose two.)

Show Answer
Correct Answer: ABC

The first configuration that will cause the cluster conversion process to fail is the vCenter VM residing on the same cluster being converted. During the conversion, the vCenter server should be outside of the cluster being converted to avoid configuration issues. The second configuration that will cause a failure is the use of Distributed vSwitch. Nutanix AHV doesn’t support VMware distributed switches directly, leading to conversion failure. Although multiple external vSwitches and active/active load balancing might require reconfiguration post-conversion, they do not prevent the conversion itself from proceeding.

A and C as Active/active load balancing is incorrect as it will not cause the conversion to fail, but will be converted to active/backup
