An egress Label Edge Router (eLER) is responsible for removing the MPLS label (popping the label) from the packet before forwarding it to the next hop, which is typically an IP router. This operation is essential as the packet leaves the MPLS domain and transitions to a standard IP routing environment. Therefore, the eLER pops the MPLS label and forwards the packet to the next IP router.
