Add prefixes to limit transaction types in a Global Search. There is no way to limit transactions types when searching using the Quick Search portlet.

Global Search results can be exported into Excel. Results from the Quick Search portlet cannot be exported.

Global Search returns best matches quickly, but not every possible match. The Quick Search portlet returns all matching results.

There is no preference to show inactive transactions when searching using Global Search. The Quick Search portlet has a Show Inactives preference, under Home > Set Preferences.
