Question 4

You have a 2-node FAS8300 ONTAP 9.8 cluster that serves SMB shares. You are configuring interface groups for higher performance and resiliency.

Which two NetApp best practices should you follow to satisfy these performance and resiliency requirements? (Choose two.)

    Correct Answer: A, C

To configure interface groups for higher performance and resiliency in a 2-node FAS8300 ONTAP 9.8 cluster serving SMB shares, it is best to use ports from different NICs and ports with different chipsets. Using ports from different NICs ensures that the failure of one NIC does not impact all the interfaces in the group. Additionally, using ports with different chipsets helps to prevent the failure of a single chipset from bringing down multiple ports within the interface group, thereby enhancing overall resiliency.

should be A C , NetApp recommends that IFGRPs use ports that do not share the same ASIC

taken from TR-4182 As a best practice, NetApp recommends that when you create an IFGRP, you should create the IFGRP by using ports from different NICs. You should, however, verify that they are the same model or chipset and that they have the same port speed, functionality, and so on. This step is critical in maintaining consistency in the IFGRP in the event of a port failure. By maintaining consistency with port aggregation and by spreading the IFGRP over NICs in different PCI slots, you decrease the chances of a slot failure bringing down all the ports in an IFGRP.

A and C are the correct answers

A & D :-)

Another badly formulated question from NetApp. Chipset VS ASIC chips. ASIC chips gets a lot more attention than chipsets so a question like this becomes confusing in the context of this question...

A is correct,if we use nics from different NICS,it is better to use the same chipset, IF we use the NICS from the same NIC adapter, its better to use from the different Chipsets. so i go with A and D in the second thought.

A & D - no doubt

I went to the link for TR-4182 that HangLiu posted. Page 12, it specifically states, "In that case, to prevent an ASIC failure from taking down multiple ports within an IFGRP, NetApp recommends that IFGRPs use ports that do not share the same ASIC." So I would say A,C .
