To deploy NVMe/FC along with an existing FC SAN fabric using ONTAP 9.8, two actions are required. First, you must enable NVMe/FC on the existing FC SVM. This is necessary because ONTAP 9.8 allows you to configure multiple storage protocols, including NVMe/FC, on the same SVM. Second, you need to create new zoning on fabric switches. This is required to properly manage the communication paths for the new NVMe/FC devices, ensuring that they have isolated zones and appropriate paths configured.

A&B Ontap 9.8 and later nvme can coexist with other protocolo on same svm. You can reuse fabric switch, but you need to create new lif with data-protocol nvme-fc. data-protocol cannot be modified after lif is created, so you cannot change any fc lif to nvme-lif and you need to create new. If you create new lif that lif have a new wwpn. So you can use the same switch-fabric but you need to create new zone to add in zoning configuration.
B&C https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/nvme/support-limitations.html#protocols A. Enable NVMe/FC on the existing FC SVM. ---> wrong no NVME and FC on the same SVM that means they will utilize new npiv virtual interfaces. B. Create new zoning on fabric switches. ; Yes zone the new npivs C. Upgrade your FC switches from 16 GB to 32 GB. ; you need 32GB FC according to netapp doc site. D. Use existing zoning on fabric switches. ; since NVME and FC can not coexist than you can not use the FC zones you need new zoning.
C & D "NVME/FC is supported on the platforms listed below with 32GB FC HBAs." https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/nvme/support-limitations.html#protocols Not A. "Beginning with ONTAP 9.8, you can configure SCSI, NAS and NVMe protocols on the same storage virtual machine (SVM). " but not FC protocol.
