Question 18

Click the Exhibit button.

Using ONTAP 9.5, you are operating with data protection across three sites. The cluster_A and cluster_B systems require synchronous replication. The SVMs on cluster_A also require asynchronous SVM-DR replication to a third site. All replication between all sites must also replicate the SVM configuration.

Referring to the exhibit, which replication technology is supported between cluster_A and cluster_B?

    Correct Answer: C

The relevant replication technology for synchronous replication between cluster_A and cluster_B, while ensuring the replication of the Storage Virtual Machine (SVM) configuration, is MetroCluster IP. SnapMirror is typically asynchronous and does not handle the cluster and SVM configuration replication required. MetroCluster IP is specifically designed for site failover, providing synchronous data replication which includes the SVM configurations, fitting the described requirements.

Discussion
mattdOption: B

They are only referencing sites A and B at the end of the question, including the SVM configuration. I would think only those sites would use B. Snap Mirror Synchronous

Garry58

i agree with u ......B is correct

whoisthegOption: C

I agree with C. Metro cluster IP.. look at the question again.. it wants All replication between all sites must also replicate the SVM configuration.. The only way to replicate SVM configuration is SVM-DR and Metro-Cluster. Snapmirror Synchronous is at the volume level. So how would SVM configuration get across ?

TaacOption: B

I think the answer is "B. Snap Mirror Synchronous" because the answer don't require a Business Continuity.. but I'm not sure about that

Taac

Sorry, the correct answer is C: Metro Cluster IP

John23

Are you sure MetroCluster IP is a NetApp replication Technology? Answer C does not make any sense.

Gino_Option: C

Metro Cluster IP --> replicate the SVM configuration.

safodzOption: C

You can get synchronous replication in Clustered ONTAP by using MetroCluster, but SnapMirror is asynchronous

BTW look here https://docs.netapp.com/ontap-9/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.netapp.doc.dot-mcc-inst-cnfg-ip%2FGUID-CD237311-D950-4D47-8280-9354C9020A06.html IT has the same picture

clevsefOption: C

From MetroCluster IP The information, referred to as objects, that are replicated includes the cluster configuration and the storage virtual machine (SVM) configuration

ans is C SVM DR is not supported with Synchronous SnapMirror relationships. https://docs.netapp.com/ontap-9/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.netapp.doc.pow-dap%2FGUID-5080DA69-478E-40ED-87A8-CA506DD00C9D.html

One more link to support the answer. Refer to "2.2 Replication in MetroCluster IP", MetroCluster IP supports replicating SVM configuration. https://www.netapp.com/us/media/tr-4689.pdf

010Option: B

ans is B

r3b0rnd4rthOption: B

In fact it is B, cause as far as I understand you can use SM-S on SVM replication as well. And the third site can be ignored as it has a different peering.

SKvOption: C

Ans- C MetroCluster IP --> IP based replication
