NS0-163 Exam - Question 35

When using SAN protocols, what is the maximum number of nodes that can be added to a four node cluster?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: B

In a SAN environment, the maximum number of nodes in a cluster is 12. Given that there are already 4 nodes in the cluster, an additional 8 nodes can be added to reach the maximum. Therefore, the maximum number of nodes that can be added to a four-node cluster is 8.

Maximum nodes in a cluster with SAN protocols is 12. The question asks how many nodes can be added to a 4 node cluster therefore the answer is 8. Max nodes for each platform type and ONTAP version can be found in Hardware Universe. Instructions here: https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/san-config/determine-supported-nodes-task.html

Tricky question. Doesn't ask maximum number of nodes in a SAN cluster, it asks how many additional nodes can be added to an existing 4 node cluster. 12 - 4 = 8 additional nodes.
