During an ONTAP upgrade, the administrator notices that several FC LIFs are in an offline state.
In this scenario, what would cause this problem?

D SAN protocols don't use failover group, they are using multipathing for HA SAN protocols don't use broadcast domain, Broadcast domains are primarily used for IP-based network traffic, such as data, management, and intercluster LIFs. FC (Fibre Channel) LIFs are used in SAN environments and do not require broadcast domains. We just made upgrade, so configuration is not changed (must be target, not initiator). So, only D make sense - SAN LIFs remain on an offline mode.
During an ONTAP upgrade, the system may automatically take nodes offline to perform the upgrade. If the FC LIFs are still configured to use the offline node, they will also be taken offline, resulting in an error.
I agree with the answer and reasoning that user "slizla" provided
FC has no broadcast domain
