Smaller RAID groups mean each group has fewer disks, reducing the chance that multiple disks will fail simultaneously within the same group. Additionally, if a disk does fail, the time required to reconstruct the data for that smaller group will be shorter compared to a larger group, minimizing downtime and data vulnerability.
