You have an Azure subscription.

You have an on-premises file server named Server1 that runs Windows Server 2019.

You manage Server1 by using Windows Admin Center.

You need to ensure that if Server1 fails, you can recover Server1 files from Azure.

Solution: You register Windows Admin Center in Azure and configure Azure Backup.

Does this meet the goal?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: A

Registering Windows Admin Center in Azure and configuring Azure Backup ensures that you can back up the files on Server1 to Azure. This allows for recovery of files in the event of a server failure. Azure Backup provides reliable data protection and enables recovery of files, accommodating the goal of ensuring the availability of Server1 files even if a failure occurs.

The correct answer is NO. In order to recover Server1 files, Microsoft wants us to use File Sync. A single backup will result in outdated files and is not recommended

But wouldn't "configure Azure Backup" include setting up a schedule?

You can register Windows Admin Center with Azure and then use Azure services like Azure Backup. Yes

Why not? "What can I back up? On-premises - Back up files, folders, system state using the Microsoft Azure Recovery Services (MARS) agent. Or use the DPM or Azure Backup Server (MABS) agent to protect on-premises VMs (Hyper-V and VMware) and other on-premises workloads." If I "configure Azure Backup" which would include a schedule, I would be able to recover "files" (it does not say 'all files' or 'must not lose more than 5 minutes of changes' or something like that). https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-overview

I think the correct answer is Yes because you can use MARS agent to deliver VM backups to Azure Recovery Services Vault. There isn't a specific requirement about backup schedule or a maximum data loss.

A) Yes is fine for me, as per https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/manage/windows-admin-center/azure/azure-backup "https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/manage/windows-admin-center/azure/azure-backup" At one point in the setup process "Windows Admin Center will then perform the following operations Create an Azure Resource Group if it does not exist already Create an Azure Recovery Services Vault as specified Install and register the Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent to the Vault Create the Backup and Retention schedule as per the selected options and associate them with the Windows Server."
