Question 191

HOTSPOT

You have a Power BI report that contains a page. The page contains the following visuals:

• A card

• A matrix

• A bar chart

You need to configure the page to ensure that the card and the bar chart are unaffected when a user drills down in the matrix. The card and the bar chart must change when a user selects a cell in the matrix.

What should you configure? To answer, select the appropriate options in the answer area.

NOTE: Each correct selection is worth one point.

I would choose: Matrix Apply drill down filters to Selected Visual https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/service-reports-visual-interactions?tabs=powerbi-desktop#change-the-interactions-of-drillable-visualizations By default, a matrix will have "Entire Page" in the "Apply drill down filters to" option inside the Format tab, which is what we don't want to happen, so changing to "Selected Visual" should give us the behavior we want

vidyaavs

Drilling down should not affect the other charts as per the question. So shouldn't be Edit Interactions to filter?

IrynaVilner

Agree with you. I just tested: 1. Matrix 2. Edit interactions to filter

anormalhuman

Correct. Visuals with drill down by default do not affect other visuals when drilling down- you have to tell them to specifically.

pverde is right, i tested, if Apply drill down filters to Entire page, when i drill down on one visual, other visuals on the page will be filtered as well

Aldeus

Right answer but you are wrong, by default drill down filters are set to Selected Visual: "For both Power BI Desktop and Power BI service, certain Power BI visualizations can be drilled. By default, when you drill a visualization, it has no impact on the other visualizations on the report page. However, that behavior can be changed."

Great, it tested. thanks a lot

Shouldn't the answer be Matrix and Edit Interactions to Filter?

IrynaVilner

Yes, that's correct

deyoz

I think so. Default interaction settings of matrix visual with other visual is drill-down---> no change, and click ---> highlight. So, just need to change the setting to filter. therefore, Matrix, and filter are correct.

JudT

Tested - The correct answer is Matrix and Edit Interactions filter PS: "The card and the bar chart must change when a user selects a cell in the matrix" So Apply drill down filters to Entire page or Selected visual doesn't make any difference!

Houassa

Agreed with pverde : Matrix and Apply drill down filters to Selected Visual https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8r7c9NnLFY

This sentence makes me doubt: "The card and the bar chart must change when a user selects a cell in the matrix" If a cell in the matrix has to modify (I understand "filter") card and bar chart, don't we have to apply "Edit interactions to Filter"??

JudT

Tested - The correct answer is Matrix and Edit Interactions filter PS: "The card and the bar chart must change when a user selects a cell in the matrix" So Apply drill down filters to Entire page or Selected visual doesn't make any difference!

GPT says it's edit interactions to filter.

1. Matrix 2. Edit interactions to filter

GowthamMupparapu

The answer should be Matrix Edit Interactions to filter I feel Apply drill down filters to selected visual is wrong as, our core intention is that there should be interactions/changs when something in matrix is selected.

fbbucky

Just tested it using the sample given in the article below. I believe the answer is: Matrix Apply drill down filters to selected visual The tricky part about this question is that when you are drilling down, you have to turn on drill mode on. If you select any columns/cells it will not affect any other visual (this is a drill through filter that the question wants not to affect other visuals. But the question says also it must change the other visual when you select a cell. So then, if you turn off the drill mode off and then select a cell, it will cross highlight/filter the other visuals depending on the interaction settings. I hope it helps! https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/service-reports-visual-interactions?tabs=powerbi-desktop

deyoz

default interaction of matix visual on other visuals is drill ---> no change, click in cell, highlight.

No, no, no! Guys check the requirements and then pay close attention to the answer area. The configuration must be done on the visual type selected - "visual type" and then "Set" configuration. In this case, everybody agrees that the visual type should be the Matrix. Right! Then, we should set/configure "Apply drill down filter", on the matrix. Actually, we are just informed that the card and bar chart must change, when selecting a cell in the matrix. We were not asked to change the interaction of the existing interaction to filter. Have in mind that by default, the interaction is set on the bar and pie chart to highlight. Therefore: - Matrix - Apply drill down filter (this will not affect other visuals)

i agree with selected Answer

HenryBiz

Agree with pvierde. I built a file and tested it.

Setting the interaction to "none" for the card and bar chart visuals will make sure they are not affected by drill-down actions in the matrix, but they will still respond to selections made within the matrix. This configuration allows users to explore data in the matrix by drilling down while keeping the card and bar chart visuals stable unless they make explicit selections within the matrix.

I changed my mind, pverde is right.
