Note: This question is part of series of questions that present the same scenario. Each question in the series contains a unique solution that might meet the stated goals. Some question sets might have more than one correct solution, while others might not have a correct solution.

After you answer a question in this section, you will NOT be able to return to it. As a result, these questions will not appear in the review screen.

A manufacturing plant uses batch tracking of raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished goods.

It is difficult to determine when semi-finished and finished goods were produced and expired.

You need to incorporate automatic batch expiration dates for tracked items that are produced.

Solution:

1. Create a new batch number group that includes production activation in the settings.

2. Assign the group to the produced items.

3. Assign shelf life period in days to the items that require expiration dates.

Does the solution meet the goal?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: B

To incorporate automatic batch expiration dates, the steps should include the automatic generation of batch numbers that capture production dates. While the provided solution mentions creating a new batch number group with production activation, it does not explicitly ensure that the batch numbers include the production dates necessary for determining expiration dates. Additionally, assigning a shelf life period in days by itself does not guarantee that the batch numbers will be tied to the production date. Therefore, the solution is incomplete as it does not fully meet the goal of incorporating automatic batch expiration dates.

No. 3 is correct. You need automatic batch creation with expiration days, first solution is manual.

I believe the answer is yes. The manufacturing date gets set during RAF when production activation is set of batches. https://community.dynamics.com/365/supply-chain-management/f/dynamics-365-supply-chain-management-forum/429786/manufacturing-date-is-always-wrong

On second thought, solution might be incomplete because we need to assign a tracking dimension not mentioned in the steps. https://dynamics-tips.com/batch-number-group/

Since date of production for batch is not included so this is not a complete solution. So answer is no.
