General channel has no moderation. So, Planning only

DikSoft

Currently private channels can not be moderated too. Checked at my own team

SuperMax

You have to look at the type of channel and not the names therefore there are two standard channels, and both can be moderated.

Mshaty

general is the name of the channel and the channel type is Standard please note that

Newb007

Go to a general channel and select manage channel... you will see moderation is on automatically. All other standard channels have the option to enable moderation. Still both have moderation. General channel is a standard channel. I wish people would upvote only when they know the answer not just to "Like" the comment

teamtechnik

I would say "User1 and User2 only" and "Gernal and Planning only" Read the question carefully. The question is not, if you can add a user as the moderator for the general channel but if the channel does support moderation at all. It states you need to identify which channels support moderation. You can't set a specific user as moderator for the default "General" channel, but you can configure "everybody" or the "owner only" as moderator. So the channel does support moderation, too. Just in a restricted way. For the standard channels you can only add team members, not guests as a moderator. Private channels don't support moderation at all.

Oh sorry, I need to change my mind! Due to the fact that you need to enable moderation (which is only possible for standard channels) You can not moderate a general channel. The term moderation is misleading in the general channel settings. Microsoft says: Note: Channel moderation is available for standard channels on Teams for desktop or web. It's not available for the general channel or private channels. source: https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/office/change-moderator-roles-and-settings-in-a-channel-in-microsoft-teams-6ac54758-3440-4f6a-9bd5-cebf97cb7ea6

But MS also say there are only 2 types of Channel Standard and Private, so in this question i would say given answer is correct. you can see that moderation is available but limited options on the general channel. So i think its a MS trick question ;)

dvc

Correct Note: Channel moderation is available for standard channels on Teams for desktop or web. It's not available for the general channel or private channels.

Newb007

yes it is..

In the "General" channel you are able to set the moderation preferences. >>General channel: Anyone can post.... Anyone can post; show alert... Only owners can post There's no on/off switch for General channel, but Moderation is there, so I would day that moderation is on for general and you just have to decide if you want to allow everyone, everyone and show alerts, or only allow owners to post.

JoskeVr

Guys, Read the description. The Channel TYPE is standard. So General is the NAME of the channel, not the Type. Moderation is possible if the Channel Type is "Standard".

Bobalo

General channel doesn't support moderation. you can edit a general channel to only allow posts by owners, providing a similar result, but moderation itself is not available.

Jo696

Seems you can only add members as a moderator and does not apply to Private channels https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/change-moderator-roles-and-settings-in-a-channel-6ac54758-3440-4f6a-9bd5-cebf97cb7ea6

unbelievable

Just to clarify further as per your link, clearly Team Owners and Members can be moderators. Look at the wording, look at the screenshots.

DaDaDave

Yes, your link clarifies both answers Answer 1: User 1 and User 2 "By default, team owners are channel moderators and can't be removed. Team owners and moderators can add and remove other moderators." Answer 2: Planning Only "Channel moderation (...) It's not available for the general channel or private channels"

SuperMax

You have to look at the type of channel and not the names therefore there are two standard channels, and both can be moderated.

vv04

I dont see option for moderation in settings of default "General" channel.
