Exam AZ-303 Question 239
Show Answer
Correct Answer:
Exam AZ-303 Question 239

Box 1: No -

Azure Files supports two storage tiers: premium and standard. Standard file shares are created in general purpose (GPv1 or GPv2) storage accounts and premium file shares are created in FileStorage storage accounts.

You cannot create Azure file shares from Blob storage accounts or premium general purpose (GPv1 or GPv2) storage accounts. Standard Azure file shares must created in standard general purpose accounts only and premium Azure file shares must be created in FileStorage storage accounts only. Premium general purpose (GPv1 and GPv2) storage accounts are for premium page blobs only.

Box 2: Yes -

Geo-redundant storage (GRS) brings additional redundancy to the data storage over both LRS or ZRS. Along with the three copies of your data stored within a single region, a further three copies are stored in the twinned Azure region. So using GRS means you get all the features of the LRS storage within your primary zone, but you also get a second LRS data storage in a neighbouring Azure region. This data is updated asynchronously, so there is a small lag between the 2 data sets, but for most cases this is acceptable.

Box 3: Yes -

Blob Storage Standard can be used both LRS and GRS.

Given answer is correct. V2 with Premium Tier don't support file. Citation: "Premium performance for general-purpose v2 and general-purpose v1 accounts is available for disk and page blob only. Premium performance for block or append blobs are only available on BlockBlobStorage accounts. Premium performance for files are only available on FileStorage accounts." Yes-Yes-Yes There are two main types of storage accounts for Azure Files. Which storage account type you need to create depends on whether you want to create a standard file share or a premium file share: General purpose version 2 (GPv2) storage accounts: GPv2 storage accounts allow you to deploy Azure file shares on standard/hard disk-based (HDD-based) hardware. In addition to storing Azure file shares, GPv2 storage accounts can store other storage resources such as blob containers, queues, or tables. File shares can be deployed into the transaction optimized (default), hot, or cool tiers. FileStorage storage accounts: FileStorage storage accounts allow you to deploy Azure file shares on premium/solid-state disk-based (SSD-based) hardware. FileStorage accounts can only be used to store Azure file shares; no other storage resources (blob containers, queues, tables, etc.) can be deployed in a FileStorage account. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/files/storage-how-to-create-file-share?tabs=azure-portal

Give answer is correct. Simply go to azure storage calculator and try selecting file share for Premium Storage 2-> no option Hence answer NO GRS ensures 3 times data replicated in 1st region and 3 times in 2nd region-total 6 Hence answer is YES For Storage 3 select storage account and type as Blob storage with GRS (option is available) - Hence YES

all is Yes, Azure Files offers standard file shares which are hosted on hard disk-based (HDD-based) hardware, and premium file shares, which are hosted on solid-state disk-based (SSD-based) hardware. "Premium file shares are available with locally redundancy and zone redundancy in a subset of regions."

Answer is Yes-Yes-Yes StorageV2 can host blobs, files, queues, and tables etc. When they said "Premium performance for general-purpose v2 and general-purpose v1 accounts is available for disk and page blob only", it only means that for you to get the premium performance, it is advisable to use File storage accounts. It does not not mean it won't work, as it will revert to Standard Tier performance for File Shares.

I think the answer to the first question is that it depends on the interface you're using. When I lab this out through the GUI I'm presented with a few options Standard / Premium for starters. When I select premium I'm presented with another drop down called "Premium Account Type". In there I see options for Block Blobs, File Shares , Page blobs. If I select file shares and LRS. I can create file shares and nothing else. However, just under Instance details.. There a note that states "if you need to create a legacy storage account type, please click here.. If I select that and go through the same steps (selecting Premium and LRS). The account is created and I can only create containers. I would say, based on todays interface I would answer Y,Y,Y.. Unless you create a legacy storage type.

Refer question #38 of topic1. Correct answer is Yes No Yes Box 1: Yes - General purpose version 2 (GPv2) storage accounts: GPv2 storage accounts allow you to deploy Azure file shares on standard/hard disk-based (HDD-based) hardware. Box 2: No - Four not six copies. Geo-redundant storage (GRS) copies your data synchronously three times within a single physical location in the primary region using LRS. It then copies your data asynchronously to a single physical location in the secondary region. Box 3: Yes - You can switch a storage account from one type of replication to any other type. To switch from LRS to GRS use Azure portal, PowerShell, or CLI to change the replication setting. Reference: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/files/storage-how-to-create-file-share https://docs.microsoft.com/enus/ azure/storage/common/storage-redundancy https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/redundancy-migration

B is Yes, it's six copies per https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-redundancy. "A write operation is first committed to the primary location and replicated using LRS. The update is then replicated asynchronously to the secondary region. When data is written to the secondary location, it's also replicated within that location using LRS."

GRS & ZGRS store 4 copies of your data. 3 locally, and 1 in the other geographic region. "Geo-redundant storage (GRS) copies your data synchronously three times within a single physical location in the primary region using LRS. It then copies your data asynchronously to a single physical location in the secondary region" https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-redundancy

Kraviecc
Jan 17, 2021

Read next paragraph in cited link: The primary difference between GRS and GZRS is how data is replicated in the primary region. Within the secondary region, data is always replicated synchronously three times using LRS. LRS in the secondary region protects your data against hardware failures.

Given answer is correct - NO, YES, YES, reasons as follows:- - GPV2 does not support file share - 6 copies - 3 in primary regions with synchronized replication and 6 in nearby region with asynchronized replication. - Yes, LRS could not converted to GRS

There is a specific premium file share called "Azure files" but this is a different KIND of storage, this is what is confusing people, so the answer is NNY, given answer is correct. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-account-overview

The storage1 is valid configuration? From: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/blobs/storage-blob-performance-tiers, we know the only supported storage account types of "Premium performance" is "Premium block blob" However the kind of storage1 is StorageV2, I assume "kind" is equal to "Type of storage account": https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-account-overview, i.e. = Standard general-purpose v2 Then the storage1 is not a valid configuration, because Premium performance tier cannot support storage account other than "Premium block blob"

pentium75
Jul 15, 2021

According to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-account-overview, there is no such thing as 'StorageV2 with Premium performance tier'. StorageV2 is always "Standard" meaning general, while there are specific SKUs for Premium block blobs, Premium file shares, Premium page blobs. So the question is either outdated or invalid.

It should be Yes, Yes, Yes for all three. The contention on the first one can be clearly clarified through this citation - "https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/files/storage-how-to-create-file-share?tabs=azure-portal". It explicitly tells that GPv2 supports file shares on standard/hard disk-based (HDD-based) hardware. Additionally, the site also clearly show that GPv2 has two version Standard and Premium tier. So, i think Sumbasa is wrong in his assumption.
