MB-320 Exam - Question 29

A company produces multiple products that require an installation kit that includes 50 components.

The company does not want to include these 50 components in every Bill of materials (BOM). You have a BOM kit that includes all 50 components, but you do not want it to produce a separate production order.

You need to set up the product BOM for the finished good.

What should you do?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: C

In order to prevent a separate production order for the installation kit while setting up the product BOM for the finished good, the line type of the kit should be changed to Phantom. Using the Phantom line type allows the system to disassemble the kit and utilize its components directly in the finished product's BOM without generating a distinct production order for the kit itself.

I believe A is more reasonablehttps://community.dynamics.com/ax/b/msdynaxlessonslearned/posts/phantoms https://community.dynamics.com/365/financeandoperations/b/kurthatlevik/posts/ax-2012-kitting-revisited

Yes, also there is no option at the line of a Formula (just None, Filler, Compensating and Active) to set the item as phantom. You set it first (and only) as phantom in the Engineering tab. When you launch a production order for another item that includes said phantom, the production order explodes the article and it's components are shown in the production BOM.

C is correct. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/supply-chain/production-control/phantom-items

My bad A is more suitable, as then this item whenever included in "every" BOM will turn into phantom line automatically.

True, but the question talks about setting up the BOM for the finished goods, so C is correct here. Doing A first may avoid the need to do this, but it is outside the scope of setting up the BOM for the finished goods.
