In EVPN/VXLAN networks, when a link failure occurs, the affected VTEP (Virtual Tunnel Endpoint) will withdraw the routes associated with the unreachable MAC addresses. Router E will learn about the unreachable MAC addresses through Type 2 withdrawal messages, which are used to withdraw MAC addresses in EVPN. Since router D is directly connected to the failed link, router D will send Type 2 withdrawal messages to inform the other routers, including router E, about the unreachable MAC addresses.
