Question 21

Maria works as a Network Security Officer for Gentech Inc. She wants to encrypt her network traffic. The specific requirement for the encryption algorithm is that it must be a symmetric key block cipher. Which of the following techniques will she use to fulfill this requirement?

    Correct Answer: D

To encrypt her network traffic using a symmetric key block cipher, Maria should use AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). AES is a widely used symmetric key block cipher known for its strength and efficiency. It is the successor to DES (Data Encryption Standard), which is now considered insecure due to its shorter key length. RSA and PGP, on the other hand, are not symmetric key block ciphers; they are used for asymmetric encryption.

Discussion
[Removed]Option: D

AES is also symmetric key block cipher. Why it is not an answer?

AES stands for ASYMMETRIC encryption standard. what do you think?

cbcretaceous27

What are you talking about? AES stands for Advanced Encryption Standard. DES was considered weak decades ago and it should not be used for anything. If the "right" answer is DES over AES without elaborating on why, then the question is trash.

Geddy1ngOption: D

correct answers should be A,C,D as they all are symmetric block clippers, if need to be chosen one - D is the best answer.

resortwriOption: D

AES is a symmetric block cypher and is stronger than DES.

BanzaaaiOption: C

C. DES only

ACD is the correct answer

Geddy1ngOption: D

the answer should be AES - "D"
