CCSP Exam - Question 408

Which of the following is considered a physical control?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: A

Fences are physical controls because they provide a barrier to entry, effectively controlling access to a physical space. This makes them a straightforward example of a physical security measure. Other options like ceilings and carpets serve architectural or aesthetic purposes rather than security functions. While doors can be considered a physical control, it is often the lock on the door that provides the security, rather than the door itself. Hence, fences are the most clear-cut example of a physical control.

Usually, the word 'door' is not used in security. Gate is a preferred word.

the door is not a physical control but the lock is . but fences have gates that would have locks as well. So if the fence has a gate with a lock is it still a physical control.

Physical controls are security measures designed to restrict or control physical access to facilities, resources, or assets. Fences are a common physical security control that helps prevent unauthorized access to a secure area. Why Not the Others? B. Ceilings → While they are part of a building’s structure, they are not a security control in themselves. C. Carpets → These are for comfort and aesthetics, not for security. D. Doors → While doors can be part of physical security, they must be equipped with locks or access controls to be considered an effective physical security measure.
