CCSP Exam - Question 334

BCDR strategies typically do not involve the entire operations of an organization, but only those deemed critical to their business.

Which concept pertains to the amount of data and services needed to reach the predetermined level of operations?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: B

The recovery point objective (RPO) defines the amount of data an organization must have available or accessible to reach the predetermined level of operations necessary during a business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) situation. It focuses on the maximum tolerable period in which data might be lost due to a major incident. It determines how much data must be restored to continue operations. Other options, such as recovery service level (RSL), relate to the percentage of service levels restored, and recovery time objective (RTO) pertains to the duration needed to restore operations. SRE is generally unrelated to BCDR contexts.

The answer should be RSL, not RPO

keyword is data people. its RPO, the other question you all keep referencing does not include the word data. so many wrong and misleading comments all over these questions by people

RPO is about data only, not about the amount of services...

RPO is the amount of data needed to recover to operate an acceptable level, the question specifically asks about services as well which makes me think that RSL is the correct choice here.

RSL is more appropriate

There’s a pretty similar question elsewhere which gives RSL as the correct answer!

It is kind of a tricky question because they mention both data and services. RPO refers to amount of data and RSL to percentage of services. Since the question specifies "amount", I think it is RPO.

answer is RPO, as key point is amount of data services is a distractor its not rsl, as rsl is the level of services required to meet rto

The answer is RSL. RPO is a measure of time, how much data can you as a company afford to lose. RSL is a percentage measure (0-100%) of how much computing horse power based upon a percentage of the production system that you will need during a disaster.

Recovery Point Objective is the amount of data LOSS that's acceptable. 4 hr RPO means I can lose 4 hours of transactions. It does not define how much data needs to be restored before I'm functional, that's RSL.

Recovery Point Objective (RPO) defines the maximum acceptable amount of data loss measured in time. It specifies the point to which data and services must be recovered to resume operations at a predetermined level. For example, if the RPO is 4 hours, then backups and recovery strategies must ensure that no more than 4 hours of data is lost in the event of a disruption.

Recovery Service Level (RSL) refers to the amount of data and services needed to reach a predetermined level of operations after a disaster or disruption. It defines how much of the original functionality must be restored to resume business operations effectively. Why Not the Others? A. SRE (Site Reliability Engineering): A methodology for maintaining system reliability but not specific to BCDR. B. RPO (Recovery Point Objective): Defines how much data loss (in time) is acceptable, not how much needs to be restored. D. RTO (Recovery Time Objective): Defines how long it should take to restore services, but not the amount of service restoration required.
