CISA Exam - Question 197

An online retailer is receiving customer complaints about receiving different items from what they ordered on the organization's website. The root cause has been traced to poor data quality. Despite efforts to clean erroneous data from the system, multiple data quality issues continue to occur. Which of the following recommendations would be the BEST way to reduce the likelihood of future occurrences?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: BC

Implementing business rules to validate employee data entry would be the best way to reduce data quality issues in the long term. This approach helps to ensure that data is correctly entered at the source, minimizing the chance for errors to occur initially. Reliable data entry validation mechanisms can automatically check for errors and guide employees to correct them, leading to a substantial reduction in data-related issues. This proactive measure addresses the root cause of the problem rather than relying solely on reactive solutions such as outsourcing data cleansing or assigning responsibilities.

How can responsibility not be assigned if efforts to clean erroneous data from the system, and multiple data quality issues continue to occur? I stick with C

Accountability is important, but it alone is not an enough mesure to reduce future occurences of error

Again the question is about "BEST way to reduce" not "FIRST action to take". I stand with C
