Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) often have a critical need to address safety issues due to the nature of the processes they control, which can involve potentially hazardous physical processes. In contrast to traditional IT systems, where the focus may primarily be on data security (confidentiality, integrity, and availability), IACS must ensure that their cybersecurity measures also protect the physical safety of personnel and equipment involved in industrial operations.
