Question 221

Which of the following is not a hygiene agent according to Frederick Herzberg theory?

    Correct Answer: A

According to Frederick Herzberg's two-factor theory, hygiene factors are elements of a job that do not increase job satisfaction but, if missing, can lead to dissatisfaction. These factors include job security, a paycheck, and clean and safe working conditions. The chance to excel, on the other hand, is considered a motivator factor, which directly contributes to an employee's job satisfaction. Therefore, 'The chance to excel' is not a hygiene factor.
