Question 425

A business analyst (BA) is working on an initiative to decommission a legacy system and has discovered the requirement: "Ability to view policies created in the legacy system for a period of 6 months." How should the BA classify the requirement based on the requirements classification schema?

    Correct Answer: D

    The requirement to view policies created in the legacy system for a period of 6 months is temporary and specifically needed to facilitate the transition from the legacy system to the new system. This makes it a transition requirement, as it will no longer be necessary once the transition period is over. Transition requirements describe capabilities necessary to facilitate the transition but are not needed long-term.

I believe Ans is D Transition requirements: describe the capabilities that the solution must have and the conditions the solution must meet to facilitate transition from the current state to the future state, but which are not needed once the change is complete. They are differentiated from other requirements types because they are of a temporary nature. Transition requirements address topics such as data conversion, training, and business continuity. Can someone correct me if iam wrong

D=Transition Requirements

Tsquares1Option: D

D is the correct answer. Remember it is being moved from legacy system to new system, so the requirements states that the Legacy System should be able to show data for a period of 6 months...transition period??? D is the correct answer. Functional Requirement seems to be the obvious answer because "Ability" but it is actually D.

there is no term called transition requirement in BABOK. I will go with the functional requirements.

Wolfedale

Transition Requirements are in BABOK v3 2.3

[Removed]Option: C

I think it's C - Functional Requirements. functional requirements describe the capabilities that a solution must have in terms of the behaviour and information that the solution will manage. It's not a transition requirement because it doesn't talk about the capability the solution must meet to facilitate transition from the current state to the future state.

RabbitsfootOption: D

This might be a functional requirement but because of its temporary nature it will be needed only during the transition phase and will not be required once the change is complete (6 months), it fits the criteria of a transition requirement.

BMM_76Option: C

Functional Requirements define the capabilities that a product or solution must provide to its users. They are a subset of the solution requirements that the business analyst develops for the project

[Removed]Option: A

Reviewing the options further, i think it is a business requirement. Business requirements - statements of goals, objectives, and outcomes that describe why a change has been initiated. They can apply to the whole of an enterprise, a business area, or a specific initiative. "Ability to view policies created in the legacy system for a period of 6 months" - could actually be the reason why the legacy system was implemented.
