Question 266

A big construction company has grown into a group of 17 companies spread across the country. The rationale behind forming the group was to become more competitive in bidding for federal and regional government contracts. Another reason was to increase consolidated profitability by lowering the cost of materials and using combined assets more efficiently. Disjointed technological capabilities of the individual companies impede gathering the data needed to make decisions on both handling materials and allocating the resources.

What improvement opportunity does this represent?

    Correct Answer: C

The question highlights that the main issue is the disjointed technological capabilities of the individual companies, which impede the gathering of data needed for decision-making. The improvement opportunity presented here is to enhance access to the relevant information so that decisions on handling materials and allocating resources can be made more efficiently. By enhancing access to relevant information, the company can take advantage of consolidated resources and use combined assets more efficiently, addressing the key problem stated.

Discussion
WolfedaleOption: C

A is a Technique B is an Objective C is an Opportunity D is a Task

[Removed]Option: C

C is correct according to me . Disjointed Technological capabilities of the individual companies impede gathering the data needed to make decisions on both handling materials and allocating the resources.

[Removed]Option: C

C: There are three Improvement Opportunities in the Define Design Options tasks: Increase Efficiencies; Improve Access to Information Identify Additional Capabilities

rupakarthikOption: C

i believe c is right. Question is about improvement opportunity-so i think A might not be relevant. a new system across 17 companies is difficult and costly.and i believe each company might have their own database(for data storage). So having a centralized repository or enhancing access to information might be a good option in my opinion

Farooq_95Option: C

Improving access to relevant information across the group of companies (Option C) is correct as this would address the issue of disjointed technological capabilities and facilitate better decision-making regarding handling materials and resource allocation

TochTochOption: C

I "think" the improvement opportunity here is "enhanced access to the relevant information" by developing a centralized repository of information.

binu801Option: B

B should be the answer. As the systems are disjoint, it's not a question of access. the basic infra to get the info is not there. hence I will go with B

rhsdealOption: B

Ans B but maybe D. in the question: "Disjointed technological capabilities of the individual companies impede gathering the data needed" – This is stating technology is lacking. A new system across companies would make the most sense.

Another reason was to increase consolidated profitability by lowering the cost of materials and using combined assets more efficiently. The disjointed technological capabilities of the individual companies are a setback, and they need access to consolidated resources to reduce their decision-making overheads for handling materials and allocating resources. They already have a repository, but they are disjointed; if you enhance access to the relevant information, you also create the opportunity to close the gap of common information access. I also think it's C
