Which federal agency plays a role in privacy policy, but does NOT have regulatory authority?
The Department of Commerce plays a role in privacy policy, particularly through its oversight of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, but it does not have regulatory authority. Instead, its role typically involves advising and promoting best practices rather than enforcing regulations.
The answer is D, Department of Commerce.
How could the answer be D since the FTC is a part of the Department of Commerce? I am not sure what the correct answer here is.
Per page 35 of the book, the DOC does not have regulatory authority for privacy. The FTC is separate from that of the DOC. FTC is a independent agency and the DOC is a department within the executive branch.
C - the OCC (within the treasury), the FCC and DOC all have regulatory authority.
Should be D. The Department of Commerce.
