CPACC Exam - Question 11

Which technique is MOST beneficial to blind and partially-sighted consumers of web and broadcast video content?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: AB

For blind and partially-sighted consumers of web and broadcast video content, the most beneficial technique is audio description. Audio description provides an additional narration that describes important visual elements, actions, settings, and scene changes, allowing those who cannot see these elements to follow along and understand the content. This narration fills the gaps left by the visual component of video content, making it fully accessible for these users. In contrast, techniques like captioning, sign language interpretation, and transcripts do not adequately address the needs of blind and partially-sighted individuals as they primarily serve those with hearing impairments or provide visual text.

I am totally blind and I know for a fact that captions wouldn't help me unless you use a Braille display. I am wondering if someone got this question and another one backwards. Captions could help people with lo vision, but it depends on how much vision they actually have. Audio description may help someone hard of hearing if the voice is clearly spoken.
