HPE6-A72 Exam - Question 71

You need to remote into an AOS-CX switch using SSH in order to update the management IP address for future connections. Unfortunately, you mis-configured the IP address and are now locked out of the switch.

What command could you have issued before making changes that would have recovered the original switch configuration after ten minutes?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: C

To ensure the switch could recover its original configuration if you were locked out, you would need to use the 'checkpoint auto confirm' command followed by the time in minutes, such as 'checkpoint auto confirm 10'. This command creates a checkpoint with the current configuration and sets a timer. If you do not manually confirm the changes within the specified time (10 minutes in this case), the switch automatically reverts to the saved checkpoint, thus recovering the original configuration and potentially restoring your access.

The checkpoint auto mode feature addresses this problem in an elegant way. The solution includes a timer that you set. The system then creates a checkpoint with the current state, You then make your desired configuration changes, which the system applies, after a confirmation. If the configuration lines did not affect your access, you will be able to confirm the change. If your changes locked you out of the device, confirmation does not occur. The switch thus automatically reverts to the latest snapshot after the time expires. To use this mode issue the following command. Switch# checkpoint auto <minutes> Switch# checkpoint auto confirm
