HPE6-A47 Exam - Question 23

An architect needs to plan 802.11ac wireless deployment for an office environment with a mix of closed offices and cubicles. The coverage area is approximately

4,645 square meters (approximately 50,000 square feet) and has 350 users. The employees use the wireless network for typical office applications, such as email,

Web, printing, and accessing shared files and datacenter services.

The architect plans to do a predictive site survey and use VisualRF to plan the coverage. What is a general estimate for the AP count that the architect should have in mind?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: C

For an office environment with mixed closed offices and cubicles covering 50,000 square feet and accommodating 350 users engaged in typical office applications, a capacity-based approach is the most appropriate to ensure adequate service and performance. The general estimate for capacity-based deployments in such environments is approximately one AP per 2,500 square feet, which means around 20 to 25 access points should be planned to provide sufficient coverage and capacity.

Course book says that the 4 types of estimates are - 50,000 / 1500 = 33 (High Capacity) ..… 50,000 / 2500 = 20 (Capacity but low density – “offices and cubicles” as per the question.) ….. 50,000 / 5000 = 10 (Coverage) ….. 50,000 / 10000 = 5 (low Density) – Answer C

For a coverage based design, this should be B. 50,000/5,000.

Tricky question... we know that environment stated is mix of closed offices and cubicles..it never actually mentioned they need coverage-based estimate... so I would go for Answer C (50000/2500) for capacity based as this is the Aruba recommended for offices...

Aruba no long recommends coverage-based deployments as networks that had very view clients previously are now seeing new services and applications deployed. Aruba recommend capacity-based deployments for all office and education settings. Answer C most likely
