HPE6-A45 Exam - Question 81

Refer to the exhibit.

Network administrators need to determine if the QoS settings on their AOS-Switches still meet their needs. Interface 1 is a 1 Gbps interface. Assume that the interface needs to forward this amount of traffic during a time of congestion:

✑ Traffic with default 802.1p value = 600 Mbps

✑ Traffic with the 802.1p value 7 = 600 Mbps

Given the exhibit, how much bandwidth is available for the default traffic?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: C

The available bandwidth for the default traffic corresponds to the Guaranteed Minimum Bandwidth Percentage configured for queue 3, which handles the default 802.1p value traffic. Given the exhibit, queue 3 has a guaranteed 20% of the bandwidth. Since the interface supports 1 Gbps, queue 3 is allocated 200 Mbps. However, considering the competition for bandwidth, with traffic requiring 600 Mbps for queue 7, the rest of the bandwidth for queue 3 can be analyzed as follows: Q3 initially gets 20% (200 Mbps), but since 40% (400 Mbps) remains after accounting for the priority-driven distribution, queue 3 can claim up to 40% (400 Mbps). Thus, under the given traffic conditions, 400 Mbps of bandwidth is available for the default traffic.

Default template is queue 3 for .1p 0, B is correct.

But queue 3 is 20 percent. So it should be 400?!

Sorry, my answer was wrong ;-( calculation error. You are right. Queue 3 is 20 percent from 1Gib/s and this is 200 Mbit/s.

But only 60% or 600Mbps is consumed by Q7, so 40% or 400Mbps is available for the traffic in Q3. The answer should be C. The way GMB and SP scheduling work is: 1.BW is allocated according too GMB percentage (in this case 20% to Q7 and 20% to Q3) 2.60% of the bandwidth remains, this is allocated based on SP schedule piority 3.Q7 needs an additional 40% to get to 600Mbps, 20% remains. Q7 total 60% 4.Q3 needs an additional 40% but there is only 20% left. Q3 total 40% Answer B would be correct if Q6 or Q5 would consume 20% which would give us: Q7:60% Q5/6: 20% Q3:20%
