HPE6-A45 Exam - Question 33

Refer to the exhibit.

Every switch in the exhibit will route traffic. The company requires a topology in which failover for switch-to-switch links is exclusively handled by the routing protocol and occurs as quickly as possible. Which topology should the administrator use?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: D

The company requires a topology where failover for switch-to-switch links is handled by a routing protocol and occurs as quickly as possible. To achieve this, spanning tree needs to be disabled to avoid any delays caused by spanning tree reconvergence. This ensures routing protocols handle the failover exclusively. Option D shows spanning tree is disabled on all switches, and routing can be managed through Layer 3 protocols without involving Layer 2 spanning tree operations, providing the quickest possible failover.

D. No need for xSTP, all must be Layer 3 routing.

Answer is C: Since all links are L3 you don't need STP between switch links. Since we have disabled spanning tree to control L2 broadcast loops we use HPE proprietary loop-protect solution. Vlan 2 is used for all switch links only as a transit vlan. This way they aren't P2P but rather in the same broadcast domain. OSPF would setup with DR, BDR, Standby routers.

If we have the same VLAN on all the switch to switch links we are creating a loop. I think correct answer is D
